Unlike the books you read as a kid which left you with bookmarks everywhere, and a distinct fear you were missing out on the good ending (surely I’m not the only one!), this little adventure is guaranteed to give everyone the ending they were after; softer, smoother and younger-looking skin with an unmistakable glow!
Because everyone has different skin with different needs, here’s an anti-ageing facial routine which allows you to customise some of the key steps to suit your skin.
Step 1 – Cleansing
Good preparation is absolutely essential on this adventure! Begin your facial by double cleansing with Balancing Cleanser to ensure your skin is properly clean and has been returned to pH balance without stripping it. This part is super important as, if you have used a cleanser which strips your acid mantle (we’re looking at you, foaming cleansers), you run the risk that other products you apply afterwards could sensitise your skin because it’s missing parts of itself that it needs to function properly.
Step 2 – Exfoliation
If your skin is not used to active ingredients, mix a teaspoon of our Gentle Daily Exfoliant with a couple of drops of water to create a paste, then gently massage it over the skin for a minute. Once you’re done, rinse well to remove. For more mature skins which are used to active ingredients, try mixing your Gentle Daily Exfoliant with a few drops of Liquid Gold. By adding Liquid Gold, we introduce a chemical exfoliation element to complement Gentle Daily Exfoliant’s enzymatic exfoliant.

Step 3 – Hydration hit
After you’ve removed your exfoliant and gently patted your face dry, it’s time to give it a nice little drink before we continue. Wet a cotton pad with Moisture Boosting Facial Mist and gently wipe it over the skin.

Step 4 – The main masking event
For this anti-ageing facial, we’ll be using our most intense mask; Liquid Gold Ultimate Perfecting Mask. If your skin is not used to actives, or you have no prior experience using this mask, you should only leave it on your skin for 3-5 minutes. When we say it’s intense, we mean it! Some people at Alpha-HQ who have been using Liquid Gold for some time even found they needed to start out with a less is more approach to this one. For those who are well used to active ingredients, you can leave it on your skin a little longer, but 10 minutes should be your absolute maximum. Once your time is up, gently massage it one final time, then rinse well to remove.

Step 5 – Vitamin infusion
After you’ve patted your skin dry and finished marvelling at how glowy you look, it’s time for a vitamin dose. To plump, hydrate and further extend that glow, smooth a couple of drops of Vitamin B serum over the face, neck and décolletage. Or, if your skin is more mature and accustomed to actives like Retinol, instead apply a couple of drops of Vitamin A serum. This adds the exfoliation benefits of Retinol, blended into a hydrating formula.
Step 6 – The eye have it
Following your vitamin boost, it’s time to pay some attention to your eyes. Using the cooling applicator, smooth a small amount of Liquid Gold Firming Eye Cream around the eye, then gently press it in using your ring fingers; this will stimulate lymphatic drainage and help to tone and lift lids. Step 7 – Moisturise me!
Moisture is absolutely key to your skin health; without it, cellular activity won’t happen. So let’s get that moisture in so your skin can keep the glow going. If your skin is more mature and accustomed to having lots of actives thrown at it, smooth some Liquid Gold 24 Hour Moisture Repair Cream over your face, neck and décolletage.
