At Alpha-H we’re proud to not only be Australian, but also to formulate our products using some pretty amazing Australian ingredients. As you may already know we don’t just use ingredients because they’re fashionable. Instead, as a clinical brand, we formulate our products using ingredients which are scientifically proven to provide you with real results. Two of these are natural ingredients which are native to our beautiful homeland and can pack a serious punch in the fight against skin congestion and breakouts. Let’s meet them and find out a little more about each.

Eucalyptus in skincare

Besides Eucalyptus leaves being a dietary staple of koalas, you’re probably also aware of Eucalyptus Oil’s ability to help unblock your nose if you have a cold. But did you know Eucalyptus also has antibacterial and anti-fungal properties? What this means is it can help to minimise the spread of the P. acnes bacteria on the surface of your skin and reduce further breakouts. It’s also an anti-inflammatory and can even support your skin in the post-breakout healing process. A word of warning before you run out and buy a big glass bottle of it to slather on your face though; as is the case with many things, too much of a good thing can be a bad idea! If it’s used in excessive amounts, Eucalyptus can cause skin sensitivities which is definitely not something any of us have on our skin wish lists.

Tea Tree in skincare

Another native Australian ingredient with some great skincare benefits is Tea Tree; even Meghan Markle is reported to be a fan! Similar to Eucalyptus, Tea Tree Oil is antibacterial and antimicrobial so helps to prevent infections and the bacteria which spread breakouts from spreading further. Tea Tree is also known for its calming properties, but just like Eucalyptus, using too much of it could result in the exact opposite.

How can I incorporate these into my skincare routine?

If the benefits of Eucalyptus and Tea Tree in skincare sounds like something you want in your life, the easiest way to ensure you’re not accidentally overdoing it and creating a skin disaster is to instead find tried and tested products which are formulated with them.

Tea Tree and Eucalyptus both feature heavily in our Clear Skin collection alongside other complimentary ingredients such as Salicylic Acid and Niacinamide, working in synergy and at safe percentages to help your skin get the benefits you desire.
